Kubernetes under control, without complexity.
KubePeep is a local application to observe, investigate and operate Kubernetes with your existing kubeconfig and permissions, on desktop or in a local browser.
kubePeep# native desktop windowkubePeep serve# local web server on localhostkubePeep doctor# environment diagnostics For Linux packages, the command is kubepeep.
Key features
Explore the latest stable features, as documented with the application.
-
Opens on what needs attention
Health, restarts, events and failing workloads on the first screen, in independent blocks.
-
Investigation in one place
Detected problems, related objects, logs gathered per workload and cluster or namespace diagnostics, side by side.
-
Search that keeps up
Local and global search, synchronized menus and long tables that stay smooth: find the object without memorizing commands.
-
Custom Resources and CRDs
A dedicated menu for native resources and CRDs, with dynamic views pinned per context.
-
Setup without guesswork
Kubeconfig, context and default scope chosen in the interface; ConfigMaps and Secrets revealed only on request and only when authorized.
-
Objects shown cleanly
Deployments, Pods and the other workloads share the same detail tabs: overview, logs, YAML, metrics and events.
-
Actions within your permissions
Current and previous logs, a YAML editor, exec and port-forward — enabled only when your RBAC allows it.
-
CPU and memory without surprises
Bars with the current and configured values, the HPA target when there is one, and a clear notice when the Metrics API is unavailable.

How it works
A simple flow from kubeconfig to investigating a problem.
-
Connect to your Kubernetes context
KubePeep uses your existing kubeconfig and RBAC identity, without extra credentials.
-
Choose context and default scope
Select working namespaces. A manual list does not require permission to list all namespaces.
-
Explore resources and events
Open progressive lists and authorized details; logs and additional data load on demand.
-
Investigate and act safely
Use the problems view, resource relationships and backend-confirmed actions.
Who it’s for
For people who work with Kubernetes and want speed without sacrificing clarity.
- Developers
- DevOps
- SREs
- Platform engineers
- Support teams
- Users with limited cluster access
- People who prefer a visual alternative to the terminal
Security and privacy
KubePeep operates within your existing permissions, without asking for extra credentials.
- Uses your kubeconfig identity and Kubernetes RBAC, without impersonation.
- Supports manual scopes without requiring global namespace discovery.
- Runs locally, with the web server on localhost only.
- Does not persist cluster resources, container logs or cursors to disk.
- Check RBAC requirements and sensitive-data rules for the current release.

From installation to your first Pod
Install, choose your kubeconfig and context, set the namespace scope, and start using KubePeep.
-
Install
Download the latest package for your system, verify its checksum and install it. Then open KubePeep from your applications menu.
-
Choose your kubeconfig
Use Add kubeconfig to select a file, paste its content or register a local path. Then choose the profile and context. Keep required credential plugins installed.
-
Set your scope
Save a default scope for the context: one namespace, a manual list, or all namespaces when RBAC permits. Manual names do not create namespaces or grant permissions.
-
Start investigating
Open Overview, choose a workload or Pod, and inspect events and logs. Available actions follow your Kubernetes permissions.
Prefer the terminal?
Open web mode with an explicit kubeconfig, context and initial namespace. Replace the example path and names with your own.
kubePeep serve --kubeconfig "/path/to/config" --context "my-context" --namespace "my-namespace" Linux system packages use kubepeep; CLI archives use kubePeep (kubePeep.exe on Windows).
The namespace flag selects an initial, temporary scope. Save the default scope in the interface for future sessions.

About KubePeep
The story of KubePeep, its focus on simplicity and transparency, and the people behind it.
KubePeep is an open source project originally created by Franklin Moraes.
The official source code and project origin are available in the official KubePeep repository.
Motivation
Everyday Kubernetes tasks often mean switching between many commands and tools: seeing what runs, why a Pod failed or finding service logs.
KubePeep addresses this with a fast, minimal visual interface that respects your existing kubeconfig, context and permissions.
The problem we address
Investigating clusters should not require memorizing commands. KubePeep brings workloads, events, logs and Pod operations together, reducing complexity while respecting Kubernetes permissions.
Philosophy
- Simplicity: only the essentials, without bloated dashboards.
- Transparency: open development and documented decisions.
- Secure by default: show only what your identity can read and enable only authorized actions.
- Privacy: local operation, without sending cluster data to external services.
Open source at heart
Explore KubePeep, suggest improvements, report issues and contribute. Development is public, guided by the community and documented decisions.
- Open source
- Free
- Transparent
- Community driven
- For developers, platform teams, DevOps and SRE
